Welcome to the U.S. National Arboretum

General Information

The grounds of the U.S. National Arboretum are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day of the year except for Christmas Day. The National Bonsai & Penjing Museum is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily except for federal holidays from November through February. Admission to the grounds and museum is free and no tickets are needed.

NOTICE: Boxwood and Perennial Collections Closed through Summer 2023. In early August 2022, USDA-ARS discovered Boxwood blight on a small number of plants in the National Boxwood Collection at the U.S. National Arboretum (USNA). Because the collection has been frequently monitored, the disease was caught very early, giving staff time to implement measures to prevent spread. The Boxwood Collection (and the Perennial Collections that are in the same location) will be closed to the public until Summer 2023 to prevent spread within the collection and to other boxwood on the property. Please email ARSPress@usda.gov for more information.
