We will soon be accepting applications for the 2021 season. We anticipate filling positions, but we do not know how many positions (if any) we will be able to fill. Start dates have not been determined and will be based on employee safety policies. The safety and wellbeing of our staff, visiting public, partners, volunteers, and future interns is our greatest priority.
The U.S. National Arboretum is one of the premier arboreta in the country, located just 2 miles from the U.S. Capitol. A limited number of internships for qualified individuals seeking on-the-job work experience and training in horticulture, botany and plant research are available each season. Selected individuals gain hands-on experience throughout the Arboretum’s various plant collections, greenhouses, and research laboratories. In addition, interns complete a project and participate in educational field trips. Internships vary in length from 3 months to 12 months and will begin again in spring 2020.
Application requirements: a cover letter, resume, transcripts (unofficial are accepted), and three references.
