A Catalog of Cultivated Woody Plants of the Southeastern
United States
In 1994, the US National Arboretum Herbarium published a Catalog of Cultivated Woody Plants
of the Southeastern United States. This Catalog presents a comprehensive
reference list of about 5000 species, subspecies, varieties, forms, and
cultivars of the trees, shrubs, subshrubs, and woody climbers cultivated
in the southeastern United States. For this project, National Arboretum botanists collected over 14,000 specimens from some 700 sites in the southeast. For many taxa, the listing of collection sites, thirteen states plus the District of Columbia. For many taxa, the listing of collection sites contributes to an understanding of the plants geographic adaptability.
