Picture of winged fruits of the Siebold maple, Acer sieboldianum

These are winged fruits of the Siebold maple, Acer sieboldianum.
This close relative of the Japanese maple has excellent fall color and can be grown
in USDA hardiness zones 5 through 7. You can find Siebold maple in the
Maple Collection near the Gotelli Collection of Dwarf and Slow Growing Conifers.
Many bonsai specimens in the National Bonsai & Penjing Museum are also Siebold maples.
