It is the most common snake species found on the grounds of the Arboretum. The snake in this image was found in the National Bonsai & Penjing Museum. Black rat snakes are beneficial in the control they provide for rats and other rodents. The Arboretum's meadows and forests are home to many animals and birds that are sometimes seen in the collections. |
