Picture of bletilla orchid, Bletilla striata

This is bletilla orchid, Bletilla striata.
It is the easiest orchid to grow in the garden.
Unlike most tropical orchids that grow on tree branches, it grows in soil
and is an herbaceous perennial that dies to the ground each autumn. It prefers
light shade and moist, organic soil. You can find bletilla orchids in the Asian Collections.
