Description
Interns will work directly with the director’s office and will complete a project that is directly related to the arboretum’s marketing goals. Compensation for the marketing intern will be determined based on experience, approx. $10.94/hr - $14.56/hr.

Qualifications
Applicants need to have either completed course work or have acquired practical experience in marketing or a related field. Basic understanding of media relations, press releases, product promotion, and the ability work independently are very important. An interest in plants and the environment is helpful.

Duties & Working Conditions
Intern assists the director’s office with the promotion of the U.S. National Arboretum and its current programs. Most of the work is performed in an office setting, either on a computer or on the phone.

Marketing Assistant: A new exhibit on biofuels will open this summer. There is a specific need to notify the public and the media of this exhibit’s arrival. The director’s office has several other projects that need to be promoted. In this internship, you will work closely with the Administration and Marketing Manager and the Director to develop outreach materials and will be introduced to the marketing needs of a public garden and how they may differ from the private sector.
